Parts from a interview with Rafael Bonachela (Choreographer)
(We decided to type down some parts of it as he says intersting things about the show and it made me realize what a great work Nikki, Jason and others have done!)

What does your job entail and how many people are involved in your area of tour preparation
Overall there is an artistic brief, this tour is titled the "Show Girl" tour. In order to make choreography fit into a very detailed treatment of the show I need to interpret and compliment Kylie's music and image through carefully selected movement material that will have an imapct an an arena or large stadium. Ultimately I am trying to achieve a show that has artistic integrity and is both entertaining and challenging for Kylie and dancers. I deal on a daily basis with Kylie, the dancers and the Creative team William Baker and Alan McDonald to prepare for the tour.

How much preparation goes into a tour of this scale and when does your involvemen begin?
A lot of preparation goes into a tour of this scale. It is a creative process that starts the minute the job offered. My involvemend begins having conversations with the creative team about what the show is going to be about, to understand the overall concept.

A show will have many different sections and songs will have benn developed and adapted specifically for a concert setting including medleys. Then we talk about what sort of dancer will be right for the show and start searching for unique performers. We held an audition in London, hundreds of dancers turned up. At the end of the audition a re-call was held to check that the performers were versatile and fittes within the overall image of the "Showgirl" world tour. Not just any dancer would be right for this show.

They have all been picked individually as they have a very particular look and have the capacity to adapt two different choreographers being myself and Michael (Ronney).

What does your job entail and how many people are involved in your area of tour preparation
My part of the job is to choreograph and stage the tour and to follow William Baker's vision. I am responsible for keeping the dancers on their toes and to make sure that all numbers are polished.

How much preparation goes into a tour of this scale and when does your involvemen begin?
I started in the end of 2004 for this amazing tour when I auditioned dancers in London. I usually prep for a big job like this about 3 weeks before I actually start to rehearse with Kylie and the dancers. Again following William Baker's lead and the Musical Director Steve Anderson's tracks, I like to close my eyes and envisage how the numbers could be. I do not like to choreograph right away. The movement usually comes to me at odd times. Somtimes in my sleep-when my subconscious can do it's best work. We had about 5 weeks of intense rehearsal forthis tour. A lot of blood, sweat and tears!
